I paused a Gaia 8 task and via BOINC Tasks it reported in the task properties:

CPU time 00:46:39
Elapsed time 00:52:45

I checked again shortly later, while not running

CPU time 00:47:37
Elapsed time 00:52:45

Same elapsed as BOINC does not report it was running but there is more CPU time.
As others have mentioned, they do not suspend.

------------

I also watched as other tasks completed, two separate tasks resumed at their given % and completed themselves shortly after. Reported % and actual % completed resumed normally.
They did not report back to 0% nor did they show 0% but were actually further along.

All completed tasks are pending validation yet quorum=1.
Will this be fixed or will all tasks be wiped again to make Gaia 9?

Edit: 156 just validated for 50 credit each.

A good portion of my tasks are 200.00 while others seem like CreditNew. No idea why some have a static credit while others vary.

Maybe a translation thing as the term is Checkpoint. See the thread here posted 10 hours before and the next thread prior to that "Gaia_6 tasks do not stop running when suspended"
They don't suspend or resume from a checkpoint.

Server status is not an on demand update but a static showing every so often.
Task data as of 5 Dec 2024, 21:15:13 UTC

Project preferences can now select which app to send

The app_name change daily? They match the app version date/time that's still listed on apps page.

I'd rather install Linux via WSL vs a VM.

Several projects will send a task or couple at zero weight like NFS. NF is another. They only do it when there is no non-zero work from what I've seen.

Conan, this is an app_config. An app_info needs a client restart.

If you run out of Gaia 4 tasks then you'll only be running a single task. The client will see work available to run (it does not know about max_concurrent preferences) and not download any backup project at 0 priority. Just something to watch out for.

I have setup a zero resource Project that would take over so it's okay, but thanks for the warning.

It won't since the client still shows that you have work available from a non-zero project and will not download work.

Known applications:
4_Gaia@home[20241019.1457]
5_Gaia@home[20241023.2232]
6_Gaia@home[20241102.2234]
4_Gaia@home[20241102.1102]
4_Gaia@home[20241130.0949] ----

I'm guessing only the last one is the correct one for Gaia 4 as it matches the date on the apps.php page of 11/30. If not, then keep adding apps to the config file for any "known" apps the log shows.

I would also like an app selection in preferences. I am near my WUProp hours goal for Gaia 6 so will no longer want those tasks.

I'm just disappointed that the several minute run time of the Gaia 4 tasks interrupted several hour Gaia 6 tasks, and thus restarted from 0, due to the shorter deadline.

17943 tasks waiting for validation. I have some and the ones I checked are Quorum 1 so I'm not sure needs validated as all listed server processes are up. My earliest one was sent at 3 Nov 2024, 0:17:01 UTC. Most are within a few hours of that. I've been working through some Rosetta work so I haven't downloaded many Gaia tasks today.

You said "created on 3 Nov 2024, 0:07:00 UTC"

zupa said it was fixed at 3 Nov 2024, 12:11:39 UTC. That's for tasks assigned after that point.

These tasks seem to be created out of order. When I scroll through my queue in BOINCTasks the name (6_####_0) for the most part gradually increments as I receive them. At my local time, EST DST, 20:29 the task name went from 6_3996_0 to 6_132270_0. I received ten of these in a row with that approximate task name then they went back to names around 6_3996_0 again afterwards.

Those different tasks also have a different deadline. 11/12 for the 6_3996_0 range and 11/4 for 6_132270_0.

Just a few minutes ago the task name was 6901, jumped up to 16207 then back to 7717. The 16207 also had a shorter deadline.

All of those tasks with the out of order name/short deadline have quorum 2. For me, I am going to abort any that show that characteristic.

Are there two processes creating tasks by chance? Any setting with a 2 day deadline instead of 10?
