Posted 23 Jan 2026 by Conan Post: The new GAIA 7 work units are running longer and paying less Old work units ran from 2 to 3 hours and paid a fixed credit of 200 points New work units are taking 4 hours or more and paying varying amounts like 160,44 and 153,72 which seems like Credit New values But still glad for the work, thanks for securing that. Posted 21 Oct 2025 by Conan Post: Had some WU today and they are all erroring out: Uninstalled the "libquadmath.so.0 package that I installed. System still showed another "libquadmath package with the correct files in a long winded (really long name full of numbers) flatpak directory I have copied the libquadmath.so.0.0.0 file to the /lib64/ directory and added a symbolic link to libquadmath.so.0, The package would not install to the correct place for some reason. I now await new work to see if my hard work pays off with success. Conan |

It all works on my older computers that have run the project before, this is a new computer Running Fedora 39 Conan |

Posted 23 Feb 2025 by Conan Post: Getting the same here have had 78, 6_Gaia@home v1.00 Wu run for 2 seconds and i get Error while computing. You are getting this error ../../projects/gaiaathome.eu_gaiaathome/6_gaia@home[20250221.1342]_x86_64-pc-linux-gnu: error while loading shared libraries: libquadmath.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory You are missing the libquadmath.so.0 library, install that and all should work. Posted 2 Dec 2024 by Conan Post: Can an option to select which tasks we want to run be placed in our Account preferences please. I have a Ryzen 5900X which is not liking your 4_Gaia work units. It takes up to 1.5 hours to run a work unit and I get from 6 to 12 points per work unit with an occasional 16 points thrown in. They were getting around 26 points (still low) but this has been halved or even less. They aren't worth doing on this computer for 6 points. The 6_Gaia take just over 3 hours for 200 points so I would rather do them please. I might start aborting the 4's. This is just on this one computer, with the option to pick work unit type I could avoid the 4_Gaia work units. I don't know why the credit value has been dropped on this computer. Conan |

Posted 3 Nov 2024 by Conan Post: I haven't found any 6_Gaia zero credit work units yet but I did find 4 of the 5_Gaia work units on one of my machines. Does not seem to matter who gets the work unit back first both get zero credit, both work units were issued either at the same time or within minutes of the first WU sent out. Tasks do not suspend

Posted 31 Oct 2024 by Conan Post: I have been noticing this behaviour when the project restarted this year (2024). When I suspend the project any work units that were in progress keep running in the background. The BOINC Manager screen says the WU is suspended and the time does not progress, but it is still running and will suddenly go to completed and ready to report when it should not of been running. If the BOINC Manager then suspends the project itself the same thing happens and work units that were running keep running despite the BOINC Manager saying they are stopped. It interferes with other projects that are trying to run. Conan |

Posted 28 Oct 2024 by Conan Post: I still can not get one slow host to successfully run the Gaia_5 tasks, even with this new 8560 GFLOPS size value. My older i5 computer just got it's first success with that 8560 GFLOPS setting, it had failed hundreds with the last batch. Has over 3 hour run time so waiting for more to finish Conan EDIT:: 2 more just validated with the same run time. |
