What do you need to do to get work?

I joined yesterday but there was no work available? I have Windows PC's raring to go (I tried adding it to an Ubuntu but it doesn't let me) I have all priorities set to allow this project a good run on multiple computers? I don't know why you can't add to Ubuntu. The work had run out but I now noticed that there are 40,000 work units available so you should be able to get some with Linux. I'd forgotten that I'd given Zorin a try on that laptop which might explain it. Does anyone know if Gaia doesn't like Zorin? The other projects don't seem to mind so I assumed it was compatible.
