1) Message boards : Number crunching : A lot of errors (Message 714)

I'm not claiming to be Boinc savvy, but your problem is interesting, albeit one of a kind it seems.
In BOINC manager, under Options, there is Event Log Options.
Try turning on a few more things there. It might give you an additional hint.

Also, open Notepad while the tasks are crunching. See if any stray characters show up.
I've had some faulty computer|keyboards that do develop a mind of their own.
I can't explain why other tasks are immune, but it might be the CPU/heat load of Gaia...

You might also throttle down Use at Most n% of CPU time and see if working the computer less helps.

Good Luck, it sounds like you're having some success either way.

How do the machines know there's a holiday coming :)
The server is out of sendable Workunits.

Today 1/26 I'm getting Computation Error on any task I try, so I've stopped in case it's me.
I don't know how to navigate BOINC too much, but for what it's worth I see
Output file 8_... for task 8_... absent. That might just be because there was no actual computations.
Any task only runs a few seconds before it errors.
4) Message boards : Number crunching : 64 task limit? (Message 323)

I don't know what I'm talking about, and might just prove it.
Look through your Boinc event log and see if tasks are failing.
Perhaps the server thinks you've gone bad and won't waste it's time sending you more tasks.

The obvious:
Make sure you're running the latest BOINC version
Sudo Apt Update
Sudo Apt Upgrade will upgrade everything, even non-boinc, which you may not want
Sudo Apt Autoremove will cleanup some disk space
If that doesn't do it. Delete the Project and reenroll.

Less Obvious,
There's a configuration.xml in Windows versions that has a timer to extend, but I'm not sure what it's called in Linux.
If you're not concerned about heating, perhaps increase the CPU % the project is allowed.

I can say I've had 17 tasks complete tonight from Gaia 6_... so I belive the project is good.
I have older computers and there were several Intel and AMD models to get that 17.
Reading your timeout message, it was upset the tasks didn't complete in under 3 hours.
For my older equipment, it was slightly over 3 hours to complete a task.
I don't allow more than 80% CPU useage in the Boinc setup.

Good luck with your troubleshooting.
6) Questions and Answers : Windows : Windows app (Message 289)

It is true the project will not support Boinc based in Windows.
You would have to create a virtual machine and run Linux.
I can only speculate, since there is very little communication from the project leader(s), that they process as many work units as fast as they can produce them.
The current server page shows 7000 ready to send, and 1925 in progress. It takes < 3 hours to complete a task, so they can complete the backlog in 1/2 a day ish.
Development of a Windows/Boinc isn't necessary for the project. Developing a higher project feeder might be a priority or they may be happy with the processing rate they have, or they may not have the staff to do anymore. As I said there's very little information flowing from the staff to this bulletin board.

Any plan for a Windows app??

This may not be the answer people are hoping for, but I do have a Win 10 machine running virtualbox .org with a linux mint 64 bit iso and finally Gaia running on BOINC.
It was a little convoluted to get running, but if you're compter handy you'll get it.
I just save the vmachine state to disk at the end of the day when I power down and it picks up in the morning.
8) Questions and Answers : Web site : Work: Workunits waiting for validation (Message 265)

On the Server page, under Computing Status, Work, there is a line, Workunits waiting for validation.
There are nine units waiting for a very long time.
Is that something that needs to be flushed out, or perhaps issued to the community for processing?

There's a bigger problem. There's no point in picking up tasks if your computer can't see them through to completion as the project doesn't checkpoint.
Every time you shutdown your computer you are essentially starting your task from 0 the next time you start up.
The tasks have to be on a short leash, otherwise someone could load up many and never complete any.
Until they implement checkpointing, you should download no more than you expect to complete for the amount of time you expect to leave your computer on.
I don't run my computer full time either, so I never take more than one task per thread.
The good news is, the server has run out of tasks to send us for now, so number crunchers aren't the limiting factor.
10) Questions and Answers : Unix/Linux : Does not utilize Boinc Preference, Request Tasks Checkpoint at most every nnn seconds (Message 257)

My old computer can run two threads of 3_Gaia@home in four hours. Not impressive, but something useful for an old computer to do. I won't run the computers if I'm out of the building. Shutting down the computer or restarting the boinc-client service makes it evident that a Boinc Checkpoint is never occuring and the tasks are always restarting from zero.
More people could support this project if the tasks could survive a restart of the boinc-client service as many people are not devoting their computers to Boinc full time.

Also this project doesn't appear in the available pull down list in my Boinc Manager. You have to visit the website and get the ip address. Getting this populated in the Boinc Manager pull-down would be another way to gain more support for your project.
